What: This week we will continue our short story unit. The focus will be the theme of poverty and other choice themes we brainstorm as a class.
Why: Theme is an important literary element to focus on because it is one of the primary ways we analyze literature and connect it to other things. How: We will read a short story, discuss our themes, and then create alternate representations of those themes. What: This week our objective is to complete our classroom goals. Then, we will move into our first short story. This short story will focus on the idea of theme and other literary devices.
Why: As a collective group we defined what a successful leader does and will incorporate that into our classroom. We will also move into our Short Story Unit. How: We will create posters, and then read the new text. Students will use graphic organizers to keep track of the literary devices.
