Why: This is a unique style of literature and it is important to teach students the basics before the dive into the topic. How: We will discuss what we have read thus far, and then move into a lesson on the elements of the text. Students will create their own script by the end of the week. Monday: NO SCHOOL Tuesday: 1. Check off Quiz 1 for script 2. Class discussion/Small group discussion about the societal issues from previous classes and connection to the plot 3. Reading Assignment pg. 48-67 Wednesday: 1. Elements of a Script 2. Practice screen play writing with societal issues topics Thursday: 1. Film Friday: 1. Reading pages 67-75 2. Quiz over elements of script What: This week we will begin our final unit together.
Why: Our final unit will focus on Little Miss Sunshine. How: We will explore screen plays, technical elements of scripts, and the plot development of this medium. Monday: 1. Finish up CFA from last week 2. Write 5 practice scenes 3. Reading pages 1-27 Tuesday: 1. Film (first scenes) 2. Character development of one of scenes Wednesday: 1. Pages 28-50 2. Sub-script creation and CSA introduction Thursday: 1. Workday for CSA Friday: NO SCHOOL What: This week we will complete our presentations and begin our last unit.
Why: The speech is our final project and then we will begin our last unit. How: Students will present and get notes for the final unit. Monday: Speech Presentations Tuesday: Speech Presentations Wednesday: Little Miss Sunshine Introduction Thursday: 1. Elements of a Play vocabulary 2. Essential Questions Friday: 1. Part One of Little Miss Sunshine What: This week we are working on our speech CSA.
Why: Students read multiple non-fiction pieces focused on society and communities so now they will present on their own example. How: We will finish writing our speeches today and begin notecards to practice. Monday: SPEECH CSA Tuesday: NO SCHOOL FOR SENIORS Wednesday: SPEECH CSA Thursday: Presentations Friday: Presentations What: This week we will continue working on X.
Why: We will finish the text and then begin researching our own community topic. How: We will have a large group discussion over the last three articles and then start brainstorming our topics. Then, we will have computers the rest of the week. Monday- Tuesday (Block Schedule): 1. Community Discussion over last three articles 2. Begin brainstorming for Speech CSA Wednesday: 1. Why: We will move through the last three articles and begin work on our CSA. How: We will read in small groups, complete annotations, and then begin research. Monday: 1.
