What: This week we will focus on the first half of the book. Characters start to develop in this section and other themes will become more prevalent.
Why: Thematic discussion is important to the text and to the author's purpose. How: We will continue to read the text and discuss. We will also focus on each individual chapter. Monday: 1. Check-In 2. Reading Check 3. Chapter 1-3 discussion and Review HW: Reading Chapters 3-4 Tuesday: 1. Character Review 2. Packet Completion and Discussion Questions 3. Chapter 5 (finish for homework) Wednesday: 1. Reading Check 2. Discussion of Leadership and Chapters 1-5 Sketch Notes Thursday: 1. Larger quiz over Chapters 1-5 2. What: This week will will begin by finishing up our MAP Testing and then move into the Animal Farm novel with major focus on the theme of leadership and character development.
Why: Students will connect and gain a full picture of the characters of the novel and their mission. How: We will first create posters of the allegorical elements of the novel, then map out the characters and what they represent, and then finish through reading Chapters 1-3. Monday: 1. Finish up MAP Testing 2. Watch movie Tuesday: 1. Vocabulary 2.2 2. Russian Revolution Posters Wednesday: 1. Vocabulary Review 1 2. Character Mapping 3. Chapters 1-3 HW: Finish reading Thursday:1.
