What: This week we will get into our novel and begin looking at the characters within and how the contribute to the theme.
Why: Theme is important to recognize throughout the text. How: We will read independently and as a class, complete quizzes, reading questions, watch the film and complete annotations. MONDAY: 1. What: This week we will finish our Civil Rights Project and begin the novel.
Why: The Civil Rights Project will allow students to research and understand the historical events surrounding the novel and the time period it was published. How: Students will work on the project throughout the week and then have a "Book Fair" where they present their final work. Then, they will begin the novel.
